Polestar arrives in Switzerland

The first two models of Volvo’s high-performance electric vehicle brand will hit the Swiss market by 2020. Polestar also plans to open a showroom in the country.

Finally, Switzerland will also be one of the first European countries to land the Polestar models. While the commercialization of Volvo’s brand of high-performance electrified vehicles was to begin in the Swedish, Norwegian, German and Belgian markets, Polestar is adding Switzerland to its first launch countries.

Polestar’s CEO, Thomas Ingenlath , explains the program’s change by the intense interest in his electric sedan, the Polestar 2, during his presentation at the last edition of the Geneva Motor Show. ” This made us prioritize Switzerland to join our global launch markets ,” he said.

Several showrooms in Switzerland

From 2020, the Helvetians will be able to benefit from the delivery of the Polestar 1, a 609 horsepower hybrid and Polestar 2, the all-electric sedan built on the same platform as the Volvo XC40. Recall that Polestar will rely on a fully digital distribution model, reinforced by the opening of fifty showrooms in which customers can configure and order their vehicle.

In Europe, the first of its kind recently opened in Oslo, Norway. Called Polestar Space, these establishments stand out for their pure and digital design. In addition, it is not commissioned vendors who will welcome visitors but specialists of the brand, intended to guide and advise. Polestar announces the upcoming opening of several of these establishments in Switzerland, without specifying a date.

France should be part of the second wave of the commercial launch of the brand, where it is expected by 2021. The opening of the showrooms in question would be offered, domestically, primarily to dealers Volvo.
